Isoflurane : MC used today
- Pungent, musty, ethereal odor
- Isomer of enflurane
- Minimal Cardiac depression.
- Hypotention by peripheral vasodilatation.
- Tachycardia
- Can cause Coronary steel syndrome.
Inhalational agent of choice in
- Cardiac Surgery.
- Neurosurgery patients.
- Liver Transplant (as it maintains hepatic venous O2 saturation)
Contraindications :
- Malignant Hyperthermia
- Severe hypovolemia
